Department of Technology Assessment and Biostatistics is in charge of analysis of research trends in the fields of public health, environmental health and social welfare, scientific and ethical assessment of health technology, integrated use of statistical information and analysis of health statistics. Studies on the following themes are carried out: 1) Methodology of systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate existing results of scientific research systematically; 2) Methodology of disease mapping by Bayesian inference; 3) Biostatistical methodology of importance to solve problems in the filed of public health; 4) Epidemiological study and systematic review on the excess environmental risk, cardiovalscular disease, cancer and intractable diseases. The Department also collaborates with universities in U.K., U.S.A. and other countries.
