Overview

"国立保健医療科学院外観"
The National Institute of Public Health has been established as an institution that conducts education and training of personnel involved in health, healthcare, and welfare, and conducts relevant surveys and research.

The education and training offered by the Institute is intended to improve and enhance health, healthcare, and welfare in Japan, providing specialized education for personnel currently working in health, healthcare, and welfare (physicians, dentists, pharmacists, veterinarians, nurses, public health nurses, midwives, registered dietitians, radiology technicians, medical technologists, hospital management, social welfare personnel, etc.) and those who seek to enter these careers.

The remarkable progress in scientific technology, advanced information, and dramatic changes in the global environment are raising new issues that impact the lives and health of the people. In addition, the rapid decline in birthrate and aging of the population has made the review of existing systems in areas such as pensions, healthcare, and long-term care and the development of new measures a pressing issue.

Under these circumstances, the role of personnel involved in health, healthcare and welfare, particularly technical personnel is becoming increasingly important, and the development of highly skilled technicians could be called the social mission of this Institute.
