Outbreak Investigation and Prevention Informed by Infectious Disease Epidemiology

My research focuses on infectious disease epidemiology, including outbreak investigation methods, foodborne disease outbreak response, vaccine effectiveness and safety, and infectious disease control measures related to climate change, informed by the WHO ATACH framework. Outbreak investigations are essential public health activities that help identify causes,prevent further spread, and inform future prevention strategies. In particular, large-scale and multi-jurisdictional foodborne disease outbreaks require rapid detection, systematic information collection, epidemiological analysis, and coordination among relevant organizations. My work aims to develop and evaluate investigation and analytical methods to address these challenges. I also conduct research on the prevention of Campylobacter-related foodborne infections as a specific theme in foodborne disease control. In addition, I examine the advantages and limitations of using digitalized data to assess vaccine effectiveness and safety. I also study public health challenges related to the impact of climate change on infectious diseases, including vector-borne diseases, food- and water-borne diseases, and zoonoses.
