Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics
The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research and capacity building in epidemiology and biostatistics, with a particular focus on understanding the distribution and determinants of health and disease, including the influence of lifestyle, social and environmental factors.
We promote the utilisation of health and medical data, such as health statistics and medical information; the development and application of epidemiological and statistical analysis methods; and research into the evaluation of healthcare quality, quality indicators and health behaviours. Furthermore, we contribute to improving the health of the public by generating evidence to support evidence-based healthcare practice and policy-making, and by fostering human resources in these fields.
