Research theme and outline
Economic evaluation of healthcare technologies
Recently, a lot of innovative but expensive healthcare technologies (e.g. drugs and medical devices) are developed. Some of them have a problem in cost-effectiveness, i.e. their costs are too high compared with gained outcome. A lot of developed countries, including Japan, are suffering from increase of healthcare expenditure. I am researching on how to evaluate such technologies and use the evaluation for decision making in the circumstances that financial sources for healthcare is limited.
